Minimum configuration
PC compatible : Pentium 120, Windows(R) 95 or better, 16 MB of RAM, 60 MB of available disk space, 4X CD-Rom drive, 1 MB video card, minimum resolution 800 x 600, sound card, screen with 65,000 colours, mouse, joystick (optional), speakers or headphones.
The sound card and video card must be compatible with DirectX(R).

Configuration for optimal performance
PC compatible : Pentium 166, Windows(R) 95 or better, 32 MB of RAM, 60 MB of available disk space, 8X CD-Rom drive, 1 MB video card, minimum resolution 800 x 600, sound card, screen with 65,000 colours, mouse, joystick (optional), speakers or headphones.
The sound card and video card must be compatible with DirectX(R).

2) Video cards
--------------
Before contacting technical assistance, please check the following points.
It is possible that the DirectX(R) drivers are not compatible with your video card, in which case you would not be able to launch Windows 95(R) correctly after the installation of the product.
To resolve this problem, reinstall the drivers supplied with your video card. Then follow the instructions below:
1. Restart Windows 95(R) in safe mode
(If this mode does not appear automatically, click on key F8 when the message "Launch of Windows 95" appears, and select safe mode
2. Choose START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL.
3. Double-click on the DISPLAY icon.
4. Choose the option SETTINGS or CONFIGURATION.
5. Click on the button CHANGE DISPLAY TYPE.
6. Click on CHANGE.
7. Select your video card's original driver and follow the instructions.
8. Restart Windows 95(R).
3) Sound cards
--------------
Before contacting technical assistance, please check the following points.
a) Check that your speakers (or your headphones) are plugged in correctly.
b) The Discoveries gallery produces sound in stereo. If the sound comes from the wrong direction, check that your right and left speakers (or headphone speakers) are respectively placed to the right and left of your PC.
c) If no sound is heard, check in VOLUME CONTROL (START / PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES / MULTIMEDIA) that the sound volume is sufficient and that the options MUTE and ALL MUTE are not selected.
d) If no sound is heard, check that Windows 95 can play sound:
1. In the task bar, select:
START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL
2. Double-click on the SOUND icon.
3. Choose a sound file and read it.
e) If no sound is heard, check that your sound card is correctly installed
1. In the task bar, select:
START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL
2. Double-click on the SYSTEM icon.
3. Click on DEVICE MANAGER.
4. Click on SOUND, VIDEO AND GAMES CONTROLLERS.
The name of your sound card should appear. If this is not the case, you should install the drivers provided with your card.
4) Drivers

You will find updated versions of several sound-card and video-card drivers on CD 0 (installation), in the file DRIVERS.

* the category and the key word(s) of the error message encountered.
* the technical characteristics of your hardware:
- the processor type
- the brand of your computer
- the type of video card installed: brand, characteristics
